BioCC Laboratory of Clinical and Physiological
Research:

  • Meets the requirements of EVS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2006 as a testing laboratory.
  • We are a member of ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network).
  • The studies are internationally registered, transparent.
  • We have a multidisciplinary, experienced, and professional team. Long-term experience in clinical trials of food products and food supplements is available.
  • We have the know-how and techniques for quantitative and qualitative analysis of biological material of human origin.
  • We have the know-how to carry out three different levels of food research: two-step food and supplement safety and tolerability studies as well as health effect studies.
  • Clinical applied research to prove the health/functionality of products from two aspects: safety and mechanisms of action (e.g. lipid metabolism, inflammation, immune response, markers of liver health, oxidative stress, vascular function, metabolism, etc.).

the BioCC scientists’ know-how is supported by:

  • BioCC is a member of IPA (the International
    Probiotics Association).
  • The BioCC microbial culture collection is a
    member of the WCC (World Federation for Culture Collections).

Microbial strains have been identified and described at different levels (Maldi Biotyper or 16sRNA, in vitro and on laboratory animal safety model, functional and technological properties, and complete genome sequencing).

 

BioCC has successfully developed a number of Lactobacillus spp. strains. The health-promoting and functional properties of the developed strains are patented and licensed for the production of functional foods, nutritional supplements, and animal feeds.

BioCC scientists are the only ones in the Baltics
who have developed probiotic lactic acid bacteria to produce foods and supplements.

has been approved by the European Food Safety
Authority (EFSA) Panel of Experts (Additives and Products or Substances used in
Animal Feed) and approved as a silage preservative with proven properties.

Lactobacillus plantarum TAK 59 was entered in the European Union Register of Feed Additives as a silage additive on 28 December 2016, as published in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2016/2150 (Official Journal of the European Union L 333/44).
